Hello From The Reverend
2017 has been an interesting year. My blog has really taken off. 2016 I had 13000 hits and in 2017 I’ve seen over 250000! My content has become more interesting, more engaging and more importantly, it has been shared all over over the shop. I’ve really enjoyed the blogs I’ve written and although it hasn’t been as regular as I’d like, it has been when I’ve wanted to.
Popularity Contest
Blogging isn’t a popularity contest but we all know it really is. Its about having more people follow you, read you and engage with you. This year I’ve joined Twitter & Youtube. I have been dipping my toe into Instagram however I’m not sure if that’s something I’ll continue.
Getting Engaged
My blog occasionally gets some organic comments however 2017 saw some of my blog posts get over 100 comments! A great bit of discussion and I got to help people out. A few commenters have even said thanks to me for the posts. My links for some of the earning apps has also had seen me get a few emails from people who want to get started with earning a little bit of cash.
Earnings
I don’t think that’s too important as I have a full time job and blogging is just a bit of ‘me time’ / a distraction. I can say that Amazon hasn’t really been a massive earner and neither has TopCashBack. In fact I don’t think anything has really earned me any money. Although I had Adsense on the blog, I’ve not had a payout so really it is a blog that pays in love rather than money!
The Importance of Content(ment)
On a forum I use (The Money Shed) I often see posts from people who want to know what the secret to blogging is. I give them all the same advice. Just keep writing blogs. It really is that simple but we ALL have the same issue in generating content. I have tried to get some regular posts together and they have helped keep me on track. I do want to do more YouTube videos (more than the 1 I already have!) but I also want to write more general blog posts as I do more ‘general’ stuff. My life is a hodge-podge of events and the blog is the best place to keep them recorded!
The Night Draws In
As the clock starts to run down to midnight I think that 2017 was an amazing year. I started a new job, really concentrated on my blog and made some new friends. I also successfully received a gift in a secret santa as well as sending one off to foreign lands! My vinyl collection is growing, my gaming time is increasing, but my reading time hasn’t improved. I have loved every bit of 2017 and it really has been one of my highlights!
You’re doing amazingly well with your blog, though I join you in the sense that mine is also “blog that pays in love rather than money!”
Wishing you all the very best for a positive, productive & healthy New Year! 🙂
Thanks Caz!
I hope you have an excellent 2018!
🙂

Happy 2018. I like your honest feedback about what has helped you to earn money. I didn’t get anywhere with Amazon or Top Cashback, but am finding Quidco good already this year. Thanks also for the advice to keep blogging. I am trying to put two posts a week on and cannot believe that my blog will be a year old in two months. Onwards and upwards for us all.
Hi Suzanne,
My blog is a little over a year old (I know this as I recently had to pay for my hosting again!) and I find keeping posting the hardest thing. I’m hoping to change this in 2018 and I feel I’m doing ok.
I’ve just had an amazon payout – £25 which sounds great until you hear the last one was in 2016! TopCashBack I’ve had loads of people sign up using my link but they haven’t got to the £10 payout so I get nothing. Most people don’t even do their first cashback so show as Zero on the tracker….poor show from them!
Quidditch I stopped using as they used to charge people £5 a year. I had a sizeable cashback denied by them so I decided to jump ship and move to TCB. I couldn’t be happier…unless people actually completed their payouts so I got paid! 😀
For my blog I want to post at least once a week. It doesn’t sound like much but that is over 50 new posts! That’s a lot of content.
I’m sure we’ll both do really well in 2018!
