Virgin Red are back with another competition – Give It A Go! There are a number of prizes you can win by taking part everyday. There could also be bonus codes given out which can increase your points so keep an eye out for them on the Virgin Red twitter feed and facebook page.   5. So I wrote Virgin to complain about their requiring date of birth when entering competitions and suggested they ask if you are over 18 or 21. I also commented that their cruise vids show 20-30 somethings and could they tell me if anyone ‘plenty-nine’ ever wins anything….

    1. Hi Carol,

      Its probably to stop people just trying all the old codes just incase they still work. It also allows the Virgin Red team to have a bit more control over the codes – remember when people just were guessing all the codes that could be released (was it last summers’ “Holiday” game?).

      I know the people monitoring facebook used to occasionally give out codes but they were often time limited – maybe they are changing the structure of the code giving?

      Its all just guesses on my part!

  9. In my earlier comment, I raised the issue of Virgin collecting birth dates (including year of birth) and also how their videos show 20-30 somethings. I mention this because a progressive company should not engage in age discrimination and the like. Has anyone over 40 ever won anything?

    1. I totally agree with you in that there’s no age diversity in the photos! Although I’m only 20 and haven’t won anything either 🙁 a company as big as this should definitely be striving to be more diverse, and represent people of all ages, colours, sexualities etc, as well as make sure the prizes are relatively evenly spread through their customers!

      This is voluntary exercise, nobody is forcing you to enter. I suggest if you don’t like Virgin’s requirements then don’t participate. It really is that simple. I’m over 30 something and have won several prizes.

  12. I don’t think that they’ll give prizes based on date of birth. I haven’t won a thing yet but it’s a bit of fun each day (plus the free wifi on Virgin trains has come in handy when I’ve bought a walk up ticket).

    Thank you so much for raising your enquiries with Virgin. I for one, very much appreciate you asking.

    I primarily play for fun but I’d also like to know the odds of winning. I’m over 45 and have played every day for about 18 months now and I’ve won zero. With the help of the Reverend’s wonderful blog (thank you❤️) I’ve mostly opened the VIP vault too, so not sure where I’m going wrong.

    Virgin is a commercial business and the VirginRed App will form part of their business model to collect data for free. Yes, an individual has the option to stop playing but Virgin will have already harvested your data for free – and data is valuable. Virgin will require your date of birth, so that they can tailor, target and sell to you more accurately. They may also use date of birth as a consideration when pulling certain prizes eg. not entering people over 90 for sports activity prizes.

    I’m happy to exchange my data for the odd prize every now and then, so yes, I’d be very interested to know my odds of winning and I commend you for asking. Thank you and have a fantastic Friday

  14. Hi, me too, I am in my 60’s. I enjoy playing the quizzes etc. I have won a free pizza which was lovely. For my age I think I am quite fit and would enjoy a lot of the prizes of zip wires etc. My husband is really fit for his age. We really enjoy the app and Thank you Carole and the Reverend

    I received (free) some VIP tix this year (£3k each!!!!) but it still didn’t tempt me, I’ve given them to the kids.

  27. is it just me or does the VIP vault seem impossible this month. still 375 points away and only 4 days left? and that being weekend will only be 25 points for 2 days.

      I think there are only 175 points left in the month if they don’t give out any extra codes.

      Based on this I think the VIP lounge will not be as busy as it usually is.

  29. 250 points missing from Virgin East Coast verified customers will leave many of us short.
    My history says I got the 250 points at start of month but they’ve vanished now and there’s no chance I’ll make the VIP vault.

  33. Well I don’t understand what’s happened this month, I’m verified on 3 things, I’ve done my shares and profile photo change as normal, not missed a day yet I’m 25 points short for VIP vault 🙁

    1. I counted up the points when last week’s show and tell came in, I kept it to give me a kickstart for July as I was going to be in the same position, 25 points short – argh, so frustrating!
