Dropped into my mailbox yesterday was an email from the BBC confirming that I have two tickets for a recording of The Infinite Monkey Cage. Result!
This will be my second recording of TIMC I have attended. I previously attended one last year on the title of ‘Speed’. It had the comedian Alexei Sale, current world land speed record holder Andy Green as well as the hosts Professor Brian Cox and Robin Ince. You can find more information about it and listen to the episode on the BBC Website or you can find it on iTunes.
I don’t yet know who the guests for the show but if it is anything like the previous recording I am sure they will be amazing. There are usually great guests for it is bound to be excellent. The biggest issue will be that some people start queuing up an hour before the tickets are available to collect to guarantee they get good seats.
The Venue
This recording is at BBC Radio Theatre, Broadcasting House. I love this venue as it is all ‘Art Deco’ and you can imagine yourself back in the 1920/30s. The theatre seats about 400 people and has comfy seats. The bar is well stocked, but the service is slow which is a shame. I tend to pop to the Co-op beforehand to pick up some drinks for during the show. Afterwards there is a Pizza Express and a Byron burger less than a minute’s walk away so I can use a voucher/meal deal to make a very cheap night out
Getting There
Broadcasting House is walking distance from Oxford Circus. This tube station is excellent for anyone travelling into London with direct lines to Paddington/Marylebone (Bakerloo Line), King’s Cross/Euston (Victoria Line), Victoria (Victoria line), Waterloo (Bakerloo Line) and Liverpool Street (Central Line).
