How to Game Online For Free

Collaborative Post
As you will have seen from some of my previous blog post I enjoy a bit of online gaming. Although I spend most of my time playing on my PlayStation, I still enjoy a bit of gaming where you can pick up and play whenever you want without worrying about complex storylines or spending 3 months just designing your character. Did you know there are tons of Free Online Games you can play via your computer?

Free Online Gaming

Cast your mind back to the the early 2000s and The Reverend has his first office job. He was sat at his computer and the computer was attached to ‘The Internet’ so during his lunch-hours he would find fun things to do online. One of those things was a Base Defense game where the challenge is to stay alive after various waves of attack. It was not about the flashiest graphics (although the graphics were good), it was about a game with a good challenge curve, easy to control, and fun to play.
20 years later and I still enjoy this type of game. The world has moved on but a good gaming formula never goes out of fashion.

Lose The In-Game Purchases

A problem with a lot of ‘free’ online games is that you can spend a fortune on in-game purchases. The BBC has covered this a number of times and although a game may be ‘free’, if you want more lives or more time playing then you’ll need to pay to play. When you are looking for free games you should make sure they are not built on a ‘pay-to-win’ where you wont be able to complete it until you’ve spent actual money on a game that was saying it was free.

No Need for Expensive Game Consoles

If you have 5 minutes at a bus-stop or 20 minutes of your lunch-break, it is no use having a super-powerful SuperPlaystationX360Switch at home for all your gaming. What you need is something that you can access from your computer or phone. It used to be that ‘Shockwave’ (or SWF files) were what you could play but the Internet has moved on and HTML5 has allowed for games to work on multiple web browsers without worrying about the security issues that could be ‘hidden’ inside a SWF file.
The added bonus of this is that the games will work on your phone browser and you don’t have to worry about compatibility issues if you are using Firefox, Chrome, Safari or Edge.

Different Games

There are loads of different games you can play online for free. As a simple game to pass the time, I enjoy a bit of minigolf and you’ll find there are free online versions of most sports – Pool, Basketball, Darts, and Football. They may not be as life-like as the Fifa or NBA games but you’ll still be able to enjoy them because it is the gameplay that makes them fun.

Admit it, like me you play each level until you get the maximum stars! It didn’t take me too many times to get 3 stars on the minigolf game
