Amazon Prime Review and Free Trial

  • Do you like watching TV Boxsets & Movies?
  • Do you like listening to thousands of music track?

If so have I got a recommendation for you!

I have been a member of Amazon Prime for years. It started as a special offer, they lured me in with 30 days of free next day delivery from Amazon. Originally, this was all it was. For £49.99 you had unlimited next day deliveries from Amazon. I have been a Amazon shopper due to the ease of getting deliveries and the great low prices that they have. At the time I was probably looking to buy a whole load of Christmas presents and needed them delivered quickly. I originally thought I would cancel after the 30 day free trial and laugh how I got ‘one up’ on Amazon by abusing their trial period.

During Christmas I got some Amazon vouchers so I was able to use Amazon Prime again to get a laptop delivered. This seemed too easy. Everything I ordered was sent via Special Delivery and required a signature. Nothing was getting lost and everything was delivered the very next day. Although the cost was high (£50) I felt that I would easily save this just from the cheaper cost of Amazon products.

So for the first year I had next day delivered and about 2 months into it I realised I could nominate another person to also get next day delivery. This person didn’t have to have the same address as me. I spoke to one of my friends who kindly offered me £25 to also get the free next day delivery. I don’t like taking my friend’s money so I added them for free but noticed I could add TWO people, not just one! In theory, 3 people could ‘share’ their Amazon Prime membership meaning you would only need to pay a third each and you could all get next day delivery!

At the time I was also paying LoveFilm (thats how long ago it was) £5.99 for the 2 disc offering. Amazon bought out LoveFilm and was giving Prime Members free LoveFilm membership. I cancelled my LoveFilm and was now using their free streaming service – LoveFilm by Amazon. My internet wasn’t great so films weren’t in the best quality but it was still great having movies just a press of a button away. LoveFilm by Amazon became Amazon Prime Video and not long after this Amazon upped the price of Prime Membership to £79.99.

A lot of people complained and many people left. For me, I was paying £5.99 for LoveFilm which worked out at £72 a year. Add on Amazon Prime Delivery @ £50 and I would be saving £40 a year anyway. Free Next Day Delivery AND movies/TV on demand for just £6.70 a month. Hell! That’s cheaper than 1 cinema ticket! For me I did not see this as a reason to leave at all.

Fast forward a few more years and Amazon has developed the ‘Prime’ offering further. They added the Kindle Owners’ Lending Library where you can borrow books for free. They added Amazon Music where you could download a player that had a digital version of nearly every song (album/single) you’ve ever bought from Amazon available for free. Then they added Amazon Music – Prime, where you could listen to LOADS of songs for no extra charge and more importantly no adverts! I read recently there is now Prime Stations where you can listen personalised stations with ad-free music streamed direct to your device.

All this for less than £6.70 a month!

I personally use the music player, Amazon Prime Video and the free next day delivery. The music player is on my phone instead of Spotify. Amazon Prime Video has given us some great tv and films to watch including The Man In The High Castle and The Dark Night Trilogy. I’ve never had an issue with my account and the customer service team have always be available if I’ve had any questions or queries about orders, deliveries or anything.
